  1. Love the Nancy Drew computer games (even at age 21!) but this particular one is not a favorite of mine. I never ended up finishing it and I'd rather replay other games - including ones that I have already completed - than give Tomb of the Lost Queen another go.
  2. Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall review In the game Nancy Drew Ghost of Thornton Hall Free Download, two modes are possible: amateur and magical, each includes different levels, differing in complexity, including various puzzles and clues, but in fact, these changes do not affect the main plot of the game. Review:

The Tomb of the Lost Queen is another in a series of Nancy Drew mysteries from Her InteractiveTransgaming. This game is an excellent adventure game with moderate to complex puzzles, an interesting story, and very realistic characters. Beware, Tomb of the Lost Queen is different from many other graphical adventures I have played. It actually requires some thinking, some reading, and a bit of research. Her Interactive bills itself as a game company “for girls of all ages”, but I think anyone who likes a good mystery will enjoy this game.

Mystery fiction buffs might know that Nancy Drew was created by Edward Stratemeyer, but the novels were written by a variety of different authors, all collectively using the penname, Carolyn Keene. Nancy has been around since the 1930’s and continues to this day offering adventures for teen readers.

As I was working on the review for The Lost Queen, I was also playing the lastest Mac release of the Tomb Raider series, Underworld. I began to think that as a young girl Lara Croft would have spent some time reading Nancy Drew novels….

“Now Lara, put down that book and get dressed for the party.”
“When I grow up, I want to have adventures and figure things out, just like Nancy.”
“Nonsense! Young ladies of the aristocracy do NOT have adventures and figure things out. They find a good husband, raise a family, and spend their free time doing good deeds for the community!
“Now make yourself presentable for your father and his friends, many of them have eligible and very desirable sons....”
Queen

In this adventure game, you play the part of a modern Nancy Drew. She is participating in an Archeological dig in Egypt. The group has located the tomb of an unknown Egyptian. As the story begins, an accident has occurred. Nancy’s mentor, Jon Boyle, was hurt and rumors of the tomb being cursed are flying rampant, fueled by the fact that mysterious events are taking place at the dig site. As Nancy, you must apply sound logic to what you see, in an attempt to uncover what is really happening.

The Lost Queen is full of puzzles to solve, ranging from somewhat simple to pretty complex, although they all generally take a bit of thought. The more complex ones require pulling information from a variety of sources inside the game, organizing and interpreting it, then using the results to solve a puzzle. Challenges generally revolve around ancient Egyptian culture, such as interpreting hieroglyphs, understanding the functions of amulets, the pantheon of ancient Egyptian gods, and other things related to Egyptian tombs. Other puzzles are logic based, figuring out how to move or affect things to get them to do what is needed.

Although Nancy will find certain books and notes that explain some things, she has to make use of other characters in the game, whom she can ask questions of and get advice from. There are the people working at the site, who will offer certain pieces of information, as well as a few contacts she can reach using her amazing cell phone (Far away from civilization, deep in the Egyptian desert, her cell phone sounds clear and always works!!).

The many personalities in the Lost Queen give this game a lot of the fun and flavor. There is the arrogant senior Archeologist, the more mature mentor type Archeologist, the grad student who is easily swayed by rumors of curses and the more mature members of the party. Then there are the more mysterious members: the woman who believes the pyramids were the creation of an alien (to earth) race and the “Tour Guide” who is dropped off by a group that “just happened” to be passing by the remote dig site. As mentioned previously, Nancy can call several additional people, all with their own unique personalities. They will offer information to help solve the mysteries (I should note that some of the answers one gets are more to get the player to think about something then actual direct information).

Nancy Drew Tomb Of The Lost Queen

Tomb of the Lost Queen is the 26th installment in the Nancy Drewpoint-and-click adventure game series by Her Interactive. The game is available for play on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X platforms. It has an ESRB rating of E for moments of mild violence. Players take on the first-person view of fictional amateur sleuth Nancy Drew and must solve the mystery through interrogation of suspects, solving puzzles, and discovering clues. There are two levels of gameplay, Amateur and Master sleuth modes, each offering a different difficulty level of puzzles and hints, however neither of these changes affect the actual plot of the game. The game is loosely based on a book entitled Secrets of the Nile (1995).[1][2]

Plot[edit]

Sixty years ago, a violent sandstorm uncovered an ancient tomb in the desert outside Cairo. A British expedition set off in hope of finally finding Egypt's legendary Lost Queen. The expedition never returned. The explorers were lost and presumed dead. In the present day, Nancy Drew joins leading archaeologists as they unearth what they presume to be the tomb where the British explorers were lost. The site is rumored to be cursed, due to an increase in suspicious accidents. The site's lead archaeologist, Professor Jon Boyle, was attacked during a fierce sandstorm and sent to the hospital to recover. As an amateur detective, Nancy attempts to discover who attacked Professor Boyle as well as what happened to the previous expedition.

Development[edit]

Characters[edit]

  • Nancy Drew - Nancy is an eighteen-year-old amateur detective from the fictional town of River Heights in the United States. She is the only playable character in the game, which means the player must solve the mystery from her perspective.
  • Abdullah Bakhoum - Abdullah is the Egyptian-assigned liaison to the Kingston dig team. He's famous in the Egyptology world for both his discoveries and his strong personality. Though he's tried for years, he hasn't yet been able to attain a high-ranking position in the field and is determined to get what he wants. Could his passion for discovery and need for limelight be the fuel behind the strange accidents?
  • Lily Crewe - Lily is an Egyptology PhD student from Kingston University who is on her very first expedition. Archaeology is her passion and she's beyond thrilled to be part of this dig. She wants to find the mummy, but doesn't know exactly what she should be doing. She's also in awe of Abdullah, but petrified of displeasing him. Her desire for leadership and clear inexperience makes her look suspicious.
  • Jamila El-Dine - Jamila is a local Egyptian who was absolutely thrilled when the temple was discovered just outside her town. She loves ancient Egypt and is a firm believer that the aliens built the pyramids. Jamila spends much of her time sneaking around in the shadows. What does she really believe and why is she really here?
  • Dylan Carter - British tour guide Dylan is charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly. He's also crashing a dig site. Carter claims that tourists will come to the tomb when they hear about the curse, which might imply that he is betting his financial future on more misfortune for the team. If Carter can't bank on a natural accident, would he go to the trouble of creating one?
